As science advances, most work places rely on computers and video terminals which, without a doubt, has an effect on the body generally and specifically the eye. In most cases, a person would sit for a long time in front of a screen, and it is intended that it emit the least possible effect.

It has been noted in recent periods, the increased complaints in the form of redness, tearing, increased headaches and back pains in persons who sit for extended periods of time in front of a monitor.

How can this problem be reduced?
- Sitting at the appropriate distance from the screen, more that it is used for reading, and that the monitor is below eye level, while papers being read or transferred to computers to be at the same level as the monitor to avoid moving the head much and reducing eye strain due to concentration.
- Proper lighting during the work hours
- Monitors should always be clean as much as possible to ease viewing.
- Periods of rest should be allowed  during work hours, especially where you sit for long periods without moving your body.
- Glasses might be needed, or may be bifocals and reading glasses, to reduce eye strain by focusing on different distances. These glasses are determined by the ophthalmologist, in addition to regular ocular check ups.

Remember:
There is no proof that computer or TV does any damage to the eye
